AMERi[KKK]an Baroque
A Cinematic Performance Action & Film Document by Preach R Sun
"Fugitivism is not an aesthetic gesture, nor is it a retreat. It is the direct active confrontation and negation of ALL blocks.”
PRODUCTION BUDGET & TRANSPARENCY (TARGET: $15,000)
To execute this critical climax—including the NYC street actions, dual-site installation, and 4K cinema documentation—we are raising production capital directly through private patron support and fiscal sponsorship. Every dollar raised goes directly into hard operational assets on the ground:
Lead Artist & Director Honorarium ($3,000): 5 years of research, physical durational performance, site logistics, and editorial direction.
4K Cinematography & Field Audio Crew ($3,500): 2-person crew (Lead DP & 2nd Cam/Audio Lead) for 3-day public interviews and continuous 10-hour street shoot.
Nomadic Venue & Site Staging Basecamp ($2,000): On-site staging location, basecamp operations, and Grace Exhibition Space nomadic partner space allocation.
Post-Production, Storage & Media Suite ($1,500): Rugged SSD backup drives, editing software, color grading, and archival audio mastering.
Industrial Ice Production & Doll Fabrication ($1,400): Custom freezing of 8 multi-racial reborn preemie dolls into clear industrial ice blocks (coordinated with Sculptures of NYC) and doll fabrication materials.
SAPO Permits, NYPD Licensing & Insurance ($1,200): NYC Street Activity licensing, public sound permits, and action liability insurance policy.
Performance Action Materials & Transport ($1,000): 80lb barbed-wire confessional frame, chitterlings, synthetic blood, flags, rope, black soap, and cargo van rentals.
Production Assistants & Street Safety Crew ($600): 2 dedicated PAs / street safety leads @ $300/day for 10-hour street logistics and crowd safety.
TOTAL DIRECT PRODUCTION FUND: $15,000
THE PROJECT
Ameri[KKK]an Baroque is a monumental, 10-hour public durational street activation and film shoot confronting site, labor, historical memory, and the ritual body in New York City. Marking the climax of my five-year film project, The Soul Searcher, this hybrid art-documentary interrogates America’s fractured DNA—exposing how racial violence established the national blueprint for othering, marginalization, and human division through a three-day public interview process and site-specific ritual.
Operating across five distinct stations on the pavement and anchored by a living sanctuary installation in partnership with Grace Exhibition Space, I am dragging reborn preemie dolls frozen in industrial ice blocks bound by nooses, occupying an 80lb barbed-wire confessional, and conducting a public purification ritual.
This work lays a foundation for public discourse around human fracture and the need for unitive healing—inviting any and all who have experienced systemic dispossession, isolation, or dehumanization into the conversation.
